EvidenceNOW and Healthy Hearts in the Heartland (H3) Participating Practices Celebrate the 2017 Great American Smokeout

H3 recognizes the important role primary care practices can play in helping smokers quit. More than 1,500 primary care practices in AHRQ’s EvidenceNOW initiative, 226 of which have participated in H3, are working to improve delivery of health care services — including smoking cessation counseling — that help prevent heart attacks and stroke. Data from these practices show that 63% of patients who smoke receive smoking cessation counseling.
