H3 holds its final in-person practice facilitation workshop

On March 7-8, Healthy Hearts in the Heartland (H3) held its final in-person practice facilitation training workshop, hosted by the American Medical Association. CHiP’s Associate Director, Dr. Theresa Walunas, kicked off the workshop with welcome remarks reflecting on the project’s highlights, and the progress H3 has made in achieving its recruitment and data collection goals. Dr. Walunas also commended the program’s low attrition rate, and the breadth and scope of its activities.

The workshop, which spanned two days, also included a presentation on the best ways to disseminate H3 information and continue engaging practices in quality improvement work. The conversation was focused on best practices for sustaining positive change, such as fostering trust through relationships and encouraging a sense of ownership of quality improvement across practices. Other presentations included a reflection on H3 from the physician’s perspective, a 12-month update on intervention tracking results, and updates from ESCALATES, a national evaluation of seven regional cooperatives, including H3, working with small practice clinics to improve the quality of cardiovascular care.
