A Message to the CHITREC Community Regarding Our COVID-19 Actions

Stage 3 Patient Electronic Access and Coordination of Care: Engaging Patients in an Online World

Objectives 5 and 6 of Stage 3 in the Medicaid Promoting Interoperability Program place a heavy focus on engaging patients in their care through online tools. Associated measures include providing access to information, making educational materials available, ensuring patients log in to view their data, sending secure messages, and even having patients generate health data into their own records.

In spite of the widespread proliferation of smart phones and general availability of high-speed internet, many Medicaid patients still lack the opportunity, wherewithal, or desire to engage with their health information online. In order to overcome these barriers, practice administrators and providers should understand both objectives, leverage tools available through Certified Electronic Health Record Technology (CEHRT), and raise awareness of online resources.

This webinar will review each measure in detail, tips for utilizing associated CEHRT functionality, and strategies to increase patient engagement.
