Superior Chicago ILDescription: This two-day Summer Institute on Measuring Rehabilitation Outcomes will provide an introduction to measurement theory and application in rehabilitation. Led by Richard Gershon, Ph.D. and Nan Rothrock, Ph.D, from Northwestern University’s Department of Medical Social Sciences, this course is for both professional- (MDs, PhDs, OTDs, DPTs) and student-level rehabilitation researchers who desire to develop skills in applied and theoretical measurement. Day 1 of the course will give an overview of patient-reported outcomes and analysis, focusing on Item Response Theory (IRT), Computerized Adaptive Testing (CAT) methods, analysis tools, and clinical issues in measurement. Lectures will also address issues of accessibility for users. Day 2 will take place in a computer lab, focusing on data collection platforms and featuring access to the Assessment Center, a free, online, dynamic application that allows researchers to centralize research activities. Note: Day 1 only registration is available for those wish to participate only in the lecture portion of the Institute.
