Reminder: Moving from AIU to MU can prevent Medicare penalties

July 24, 2013

As a provider who treats Medicare patients, you should be aware that you will face payment adjustments to Medicare reimbursements starting in 2015 if you do not successfully demonstrate meaningful use in 2013.  However, that’s not the only reason to move to meaningful use (MU) in 2013:

1.       Meaningful use will help you prepare for a new, larger volume of patients coming your way in 2014. A move to meaningful use this year gives you and your staff time to make a smooth transition and maximize MU benefits for your new patient population.

2.       Meaningful use accelerates achievement in every other element of health care reform. MU is a springboard for virtually every model being considered for the future of U.S. health care, including patient-centered medical homes (PCMH), participation in Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs) and Value Based Purchasing (VBP). If you’re already working on these initiatives, MU will complement your efforts.

3.       This is the last year you’ll be able to take advantage of subsidized support from our REC — the same support that has helped many providers like you successfully achieve meaningful use.

Don’t wait! We can help you reach MU this year.
